Kookie Karter is Live with Gamepad Support!

Hello everyone!

Just to inform that the game is now available for play in WebGL so you can enjoy the experience using your favorite browser. I have also setup the game to support game pad input so go ahead and plug that controller of yours into the game.  So far from testing it works for the wired Xbox 360 controller but not for the wireless Dual Shock controller. If you have a favorite controller that works (or not) for the game, please let me know in the comments below.

A little background about the game development. This game was made in mind for the Cookie Jam 2021 with the theme related to cookies. This is the first time I ran with a small 3 person team (me included) and it took us a whole 2 weeks to get everything done and polished at the same time. The sprites and scrolling background pixel art in-game was done by Potato Dude, who apparently is our youngest member in the team! As for the music you hear in the main menu and in-game, they were made by Kanoa who is a expert in the art of composing cutesy chip-tune tracks. You can check out her other tracks at Soundcloud. Their efforts are much appreciate for contributing their free time and effort into enhancing the gaming experience for your enjoyment.

Besides that, I wanted to also inform that even with all of our efforts put into this game, the game will not have anymore further development after the first release, even though in its code, I have designed it to be easily extendable (it can do a lot more levels, obstacle patterns, and larger obstacle count than its current state). The reason isn't anything bad or unpleasant, rather I find that the game is really polished for what it is.  Although there could be an interesting story developed around the concept but I won't be able to fully immerse myself into doing a write it for now due to Necroanimalis and other game dev in progress. I might get back to this game if there is a fan base around these type of genre, so for now it will have a nice warm and comfy place in the back burner.

Lastly, I would like to thank both my team members for joining with me on this game jam adventure and released a really polished game for everyone's entertainment. There will be a postmortem dev log regarding the game and more in depth reasons for the development halt.
